Merje Toome is a Principal Scientist at the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries’ Plant Health and Environment Laboratory. She specialises in biosecurity diagnostics of fungal plant pathogens and has contributed to the development of new diagnostic assays, supported numerous biosecurity investigations, and trained diagnostitians in New Zealand as well as in other Pacific Island countries.
